General Scope:
The Brewery Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the overall functionality, safety, and operational readiness of brewery production systems, packaging equipment, and supporting facilities including the grounds, warehouses, restaurant, office, retail, and event spaces. This position works collaboratively with production, distribution, taproom, and operations teams to minimize downtime, execute preventive maintenance programs, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Roles and Responsibility:
- Implement and execute preventive maintenance programs across all brewing, production, packaging, and facility equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair production systems and machinery; diagnose root cause of failures and perform necessary repairs or replacements to minimize downtime
- Maintain and repair PLCs, variable speed drives, motors, gearboxes, valves, pumps, conveyors, and associated mechanical components
- Perform building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, finish repairs and upkeep
- Inspect equipment, operating systems, and building infrastructure proactively; take corrective action as needed
- Document all corrective and preventive maintenance actions accurately and in a timely manner in a maintenance spreadsheet
- Select, order, and procure parts and materials for maintenance and improvement projects
- Coordinate with maintenance vendors and contractors when specialized work is required
- Obtain bids, oversee and negotiate work from outside contractors when required
- Support setup, breakdown, and maintenance of event, seasonal activation, and hospitality spaces
- Maintain the appearance and upkeep of all exterior grounds including landscaping, lawn care, seasonal plantings, parking areas, walkways, patios, and guest-facing outdoor spaces to reflect the brewery's brand standards year-round.
- Perform all snow and ice removal across parking lots, walkways, loading docks, and building entry points including salting and sanding to ensure safe, unobstructed access for staff, guests, and deliveries prior to the start of each production day.
- Participate in after-hours and emergency maintenance response
- Manage a team of up to 4 people
- Maintain clean, organized work areas; return tools, equipment, and supplies to appropriate storage after assignments
- Adhere to all safety policies including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, PPE, and GMP requirements
- Drive continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives; assist other departments as needed
- Special projects as assigned by management
Skills:
- Experience in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical work
- Experience with industrial and/or food and beverage manufacturing equipment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Solid time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
- Detail oriented with strong communication and follow-through
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to work cross functionally with other departments
- Valid driver's license required; forklift experience a plus
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.; frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and manual labor
- Flexibility for off-shift, weekend, and emergency coverage as needed
- Comfortable working in active production, hospitality, and outdoor environments
